The new Respiratory Protection Standard states that an employer
must conduct a medical evaluation to determine each employee's
fitness to wear a respirator either by the administration of a
medical questionnaire, and/or a physical examination that obtains
the same information as the questionnaire. The results must be
read and evaluated prior to the respirator fit test. Our services
include:
BEFORE TESTING
The employee completes an OSHA-approved medical history form.
PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING
Perform flow spirometry screening.
Identify employee FVC, FEV, and FEV1 values.
Compare the obtained results to the predicted values.
Determine if spirometry results are within a normal range.
RESPIRATOR QUALITATIVE FIT CHECK
Show employee how to inspect respirator for service.
Inspect filters to ensure proper air flow into respirator..
Instruct employee how to properly put on the respirator.
Perform negative and positive pressure check of respirator.
MEDICAL CLEARANCE
Review and evaluate spirometer test results and medical history to
determine employee suitability for wearing a respirator.
Issue respirator clearance or non-clearance letter as test results indicate.
